چکیده
Mycoplasma laidlawii was recovered from burns from 13 of 52 patients. In most cases, cocci or bacilli were isolated simultaneously.

Extracellular Vesicles Derived from Acholeplasma laidlawii PG8
Extracellular vesicle production is believed to be a ubiquitous process in bacteria, but the data on such a process in Mollicutes are absent. We report the isolation of ultramicroforms - extracellular vesicles from supernatants of Acholeplasma laidlawii PG8 (ubiquitous mycoplasma; the main contaminant of cell culture). Considering sizes, morphology, and ultrastructural organization, the ultrami...
متن کاملInteraction of mycoplasma virus type 2 with cellular components of Acholeplasma laidlawii strain JA1.
Mycoplasma virus type 2 was shown to adsorb specifically to intact cells, membranes, and lipoglycan of Acholeplasma laidlawii strain JA1 but not to these components of Acholeplasma oculi. The oligosaccharide chain of the lipoglycan defined the specificity of the receptor site since deacylation not only did not reduce adsorption but increased it threefold. Actual adsorption of virus to lipoglyca...
متن کاملRelease of a group 1 mycoplasma virus from Acholeplasma laidlawii after treatment with mitomycin C.
A rod-shaped group 1 mycoplasma virus was released from Acholeplasma laidlawii strain JA2 after treatment with 2.5 mug of mitomycin C per ml. Similar treatment of A. laidlawii strain Bju failed to stimulate release of any PFU.
متن کاملAdaptation to Unfavorable Conditions of Growth: Pathogenicity of Acholeplasma Laidlawii Pg8
As a result of cultivation of A. laidlawii PG8 cells on the deficient medium during 480 days, the mycoplasma culture adapted in vitro to unfavorable growth conditions was obtained. The culture consisted of cells with sizes less than 0.2 μm and features of A. laidlawii PG8 ultramicroforms, nanocells. A. laidlawii PG8 culture adapted in vitro to unfavorable growth conditions shows more evident ph...
متن کاملDeoxyribonucleic acid homology and relative genome size in Mycoplasma.
The deoxyribonucleic acid homologies of Mycoplasma laidlawii type A and type B, M. pulmonis (#47 and #63), and M. hominis were determined by membrane methodology. The homology data revealed a difference in genome size between M. laidlawii type A and type B. This difference also held with stringent conditions of annealing (high temperature). Little or negligible homology was shown to exist betwe...
